Two human rights defenders, one Norwegian and one Australian, disappeared in Cambodia on 18 September 2026. Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security later claimed the men were caught entering Vietnam illegally. The petition disputes that account and calls for the release of the men.
The petition asks
- The Australian and Norwegian prime ministers to secure consular access and call for the men's release.
- The President of the European Commission to raise the case with Vietnam.
- The UN Secretary-General to call for their release and press for medical access for one of the men.
Addressed to
- Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia
- Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Norway
- Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission
- António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations
